A 34-year-old lady developed sever COVID pneumonia just 2 days after delivering her baby in the same hospital. This was at the peak of 2nd COVID wave, when multiple young lives were being lost. After spending multiple days on the ventilator without much improvement, it was decided to put her on ECMO support. While on ECMO support, daily struggles of bleeding, infections, economics and psychological issues were dealt with in a smooth manner with a concerted effort between pulmonology and critical care teams. Finally, after being on the ECMO support for nearly 4 weeks, her lungs showed signs of improvement, and she was gradually weaned off the support and later from the ventilator too.Today, she lives happily with her husband and her daughter and leads and active lifestyle.
